About the role
Our client, a leader in the Manufacturing & Production sector, is seeking an experienced Principal Microbiologist to join their Consumer Brands business unit. This role offers the opportunity to be part of an innovative organisation dedicated to sustainability and collaboration, with a focus on Laundry & Home Care and Hair products.
What you will do
- Lead microbiological support across multiple Product Development teams, ensuring product preservation and antibacterial efficacy strategies are scientifically robust.
- Oversee R&D microbiological testing, ensuring alignment with regulatory expectations and business needs.
- Design and conduct advanced microbiological studies to support formula development and claims substantiation.
- Provide expert interpretation of FDA monographs and global regulatory guidance, translating requirements into actionable strategies.
- Collaborate with Quality, Hygiene, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing to assess microbiological risk and support investigations.
- Mentor junior scientists, enhancing overall microbiology capability within the team.
- Lead strategic technical initiatives and represent the organisation in external industry groups.
What we are looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology or a related biological science (advanced degree preferred).
- Extensive industry experience (10+ years) in microbiology, with expertise in antibacterial product development and regulatory compliance.
- Deep knowledge of FDA regulatory frameworks and experience in designing complex microbiological studies.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing microbiology and microbiological risk management.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
- Proven leadership and mentoring capabilities.
