We are recruiting for an experienced Occupational Health Advisor to join an established and supportive occupational health team in Chelmsford.

This is a permanent opportunity offering a competitive salary of £40,000 – £45,000, working 37.5 hours per week.

The role would suit an Occupational Health Advisor who enjoys a varied clinical role and wants to work across case management, health surveillance, fitness assessments and wider occupational health services.

The Role

You will provide a comprehensive occupational health service to a diverse range of employees and organisations, providing professional advice that supports employee health, attendance, rehabilitation and fitness for work.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing occupational health cases and providing evidence-based advice around attendance, fitness for work and rehabilitation
• Conducting fitness-for-role assessments and medicals
• Undertaking health surveillance
• Providing clear, professional and evidence-based reports to managers and other stakeholders
• Advising on occupational health legislation, best practice and appropriate workplace adjustments
• Supporting health promotion and wellbeing initiatives
• Carrying out clinical services such as vaccinations, travel health advice, ergonomic assessments and health education where appropriately trained
• Providing clinical supervision and support to Occupational Health Technicians
• Maintaining accurate clinical records and ensuring confidentiality and data protection requirements are met
• Maintaining your NMC registration and continuing your professional development

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a confident Occupational Health Advisor with solid clinical and occupational health experience.

You will ideally have:

• NMC Part 1 registration
• A postgraduate qualification in Occupational Health at Degree or Diploma level
• Occupational Health case management experience
• Experience conducting fitness-for-role assessments
• Experience with health surveillance
• Proficiency in spirometry and audiometry
• Experience conducting general medicals
• Experience with drug and alcohol screening
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• The ability to manage your own workload and caseload effectively
• A good understanding of confidentiality and data protection
• A genuine interest in health promotion and supporting healthier workplaces

Desirable Experience

The following would be advantageous but are not essential:

• Postgraduate Occupational Health qualification recorded on Part 3 of the NMC register
• MSc in an Occupational Health-related subject
• Dual RN/RMN qualification
• Experience teaching, training or mentoring OH students
• Advanced IT skills
• Experience providing ergonomic advice
