About the Role
Nothing But Recruitment is seeking an experienced Advanced Social Worker to join a dynamic Disabled Children’s Team on a temporary basis. This role is perfect for a qualified social worker who wants to provide leadership, mentor colleagues, and champion high professional standards while working with children and families with complex needs.
You’ll be holding a smaller caseload than average, allowing you to dedicate time to supervise, coach, and support colleagues including newly qualified social workers, students, and less experienced staff. Your insight will directly contribute to safe, evidence-based practice and influence strategic development within the service.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a complex and multi-faceted caseload independently, prioritising children’s safety and well-being.
Carry out in-depth assessments of social need and risk, focusing on parental capacity and family dynamics.
Recognise and respond to all forms of child harm and exploitation, including online risks.
Provide reflective supervision, mentoring, and training to colleagues at various stages of their careers.
Contribute to multi-agency working, attending meetings with health, police, and other partners.
Lead professional discussions and chair multi-disciplinary meetings to ensure fair and effective practice.
Support colleagues in statutory reviews, Child Protection Conferences, and court proceedings where required.
Promote equality, diversity, and best practice throughout all areas of work.
Required Experience & Skills
Proven experience working with children, young people, and families in a social care setting.
Strong skills in assessment, investigation, and risk management.
Experience of multi-agency collaboration and chairing formal meetings.
Knowledge of relevant legislation, policy, and professional guidelines.
Experience providing supervision, mentoring, or leadership in a social work setting.
Excellent written and verbal communication, report writing, and IT skills.
Ability to manage complex caseloads and work effectively under pressure.
Qualifications
Social Work England registered with a relevant degree in social work.
Post-qualifying experience in social care, ideally with advanced practice qualifications (e.g., Practice Educator, Approved Mental Health Professional).
Evidence of commitment to ongoing professional development, coaching, and leadership.
Why Apply?
This is an exciting opportunity for a social worker who wants to make a real difference, support a professional team, and develop their leadership and mentoring skills. You’ll be working in a collaborative environment where your expertise is valued and your contribution impacts children and families directly.
