About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join a dynamic Referral & Assessment team for a short-term locum assignment. This role is ideal for a social care professional with a strong background in working with children and families, looking to make a real impact on child welfare over a focused project period.
This role does not include management responsibilities, but offers the opportunity to manage cases and work directly with children, young people, and families.
Key responsibilities include:
Managing referrals meeting the threshold for assessment (children aged 0–17)
Conducting investigations and assessments for Child Protection cases, often alongside the Police Child Abuse Investigation Team (CAIT)
Assessing Children in Need whose needs cannot be met via the CAF (Common Assessment Framework) or TAC (Team Around the Child) process
Handling initial stages of new Looked After episodes
Supporting families with No Recourse to Public Funds, completing assessments, identifying risks, and developing plans in collaboration with children, families, and other professionals
Transferring cases to the appropriate teams within social care after assessment
What We Offer
Flexible working: Face-to-face visits to families with office-based work on a team rota
Expenses: Claimable mileage for travel from your base to visits (excluding travel to the office). Oyster cards available for work travel
Competitive locum rates
Requirements:
