Location: Staffordshire & Worcester Prison Services
Contract: Agency – 12 weeks
Start Date: 1st August
Hours: Full time, Monday to Friday
Shift Pattern: 08:30 – 16:30
Clearance Required: MUST hold valid Prison Clearance

We are currently seeking an experienced Band 6 Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) to join a prison healthcare team supporting the delivery of high-quality mental health care within a secure environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled mental health professional who is confident working autonomously, managing complex caseloads, and delivering specialist interventions as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage a clinical caseload of prisoners with a range of mental health needs.
• Complete mental health assessments, care planning, reviews, and risk assessments.
• Deliver evidence-based mental health interventions and support recovery-focused care.
• Work collaboratively with prison healthcare teams, statutory services, and external agencies.
• Provide specialist mental health advice and contribute to MDT meetings and care reviews.
• Maintain accurate clinical records in line with NMC standards and organisational policies.
• Support the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate patient care within a secure setting.

Essential Requirements:

• Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with valid NMC registration.
• Current Prison Clearance – essential.
• Previous experience working within mental health services.
• Experience managing complex caseloads and delivering mental health interventions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Understanding of safeguarding, risk management, and mental health legislation.

Desirable Experience:

• Previous experience working within a prison or secure healthcare environment.
• Knowledge of offender healthcare pathways and criminal justice services.
• Experience with CBT, motivational interviewing, or recovery-focused approaches.
