We are recruiting for an experienced Occupational Health Advisor / Occupational Health Team Leader to join an established onsite occupational health service in Warton, Preston.
This is a full-time permanent position combining a hands-on Occupational Health role with day-to-day leadership, clinical supervision and development of an onsite clinical team.
The role would suit an experienced OHA who is ready to take the next step into a leadership position, or an existing OH Team Leader looking for a new opportunity.
The Role
You will provide a full Occupational Health service while taking responsibility for the day-to-day management and clinical leadership of the onsite team.
You’ll work closely with managers and employees, providing professional occupational health advice while supporting the wider clinical team with supervision, development and clinical governance.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Conducting independent occupational health assessments by telephone and face to face
- Providing clear and professional reports and recommendations to referring managers
- Undertaking health surveillance and fitness-for-work assessments
- Issuing appropriate fitness certificates
- Managing occupational health case referrals and clinical triage
- Providing day-to-day leadership, support and clinical supervision to the onsite team
- Supporting induction, clinical competency reviews, training and development
- Supporting appraisals and ongoing performance development
- Monitoring health surveillance escalations and providing clinical guidance
- Attending client meetings and delivering relevant training sessions
- Supporting and coordinating workplace health and wellbeing initiatives
- Working closely with administrative teams to ensure effective allocation of work and appropriate clinical resource
- Maintaining clinical rooms, equipment and calibration records
- Ensuring clinical practice remains in line with relevant policies, procedures, legislation and professional standards
- Maintaining your own professional development and NMC registration
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for a confident and experienced Occupational Health professional with strong clinical and leadership skills.
You will ideally have:
- NMC Part 1 registration
- A postgraduate qualification in Occupational Health, or be working towards one
- Strong Occupational Health experience across a broad remit
- Experience in occupational health case management
- Experience conducting health surveillance
- Experience with fitness-for-work assessments
- Previous management, leadership or clinical supervision experience
- Strong knowledge of professional standards and clinical accountability
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organisational and time management abilities
- The ability to prioritise and manage a busy workload
- Good IT skills
- A proactive and self-motivated approach
- The confidence to provide and receive constructive feedback
- The ability to work independently while also supporting and motivating a wider clinical team
A strong understanding of workplace health and safety would also be advantageous.
