Manager Designate Children’s Home Full-time

This full-time, permanent role is based in Bideford, Devon, and is perfect for an experienced childcare professional looking to take the next step in their career.

The Role

As Manager Designate, you will play a pivotal leadership role in establishing and developing a new 2-bed residential children’s home. You will work closely with senior management to ensure the home provides a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment for children and young people, while upholding high standards of care, compliance, and safeguarding.

What You’ll Do

• Support the successful development and operation of the new children’s home.
• Provide strong leadership and support to the residential care team.
• Ensure the home consistently delivers high-quality care and positive outcomes for children and young people.
• Maintain high standards of safeguarding, compliance, and operational practice.
• Support staff development, supervision, and ongoing performance.
• Collaborate with senior management and relevant professionals to meet the needs of children and young people.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and care standards.
• Ensure the home operates in line with relevant legislation, regulations, and Ofsted requirements.
• Prepare the service for registration and ongoing inspection requirements.

What You’ll Need

• Experience working at a senior level within a residential children’s home is preferred.
• Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent.
• Level 5 qualification is preferred and will be essential for appointment as Registered Manager.
• Strong leadership and people-management skills.
• Experience of compliance and operational management within residential childcare.
• A strong understanding of safeguarding and the needs of children and young people.
• The ability to lead by example and build a positive, supportive team environment.
• Commitment to providing high-quality, child-centred care.
