Healthcare Assistant Mental Health Contract

The Role
This is a flexible temporary role offering ad-hoc shifts in a supportive and structured environment.
What You’ll Do
As a temporary Healthcare Assistant, you will provide compassionate, person-centred support to individuals with mental health needs. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing compassionate, person-centred support to individuals with mental health needs
- Supporting service users with their daily routines, including personal care where required
- Building positive relationships and providing emotional support
- Observing and reporting changes in behaviour, presentation, or wellbeing
- Supporting with risk management and maintaining a safe environment
- Assisting during ward routines and working alongside the wider care team
- Completing accurate care notes and documentation
- Promoting dignity, respect, and recovery-focused care at all times
This is a hands-on, fast-paced environment where no two shifts are the same. You will need to be confident, adaptable, and able to respond calmly in challenging situations.
What You’ll Need
To be considered for this temporary role, you must have:
- Previous experience working as a Healthcare Assistant within mental health, psychiatric, hospital, or care settings
- Valid PMVA training certificate
- DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service
- Up-to-date mandatory training certificates
- Understanding of safeguarding and mental health support
- Ability to remain calm, resilient, and professional in challenging situations
- Strong communication skills and a caring approach
- Flexibility to work a range of shifts, including nights and weekends
