About the Service
We are recruiting on behalf of a small 2-bed Ofsted-registered children’s home supporting children and young people aged 7–17 (on admission).
The service provides a safe, structured, and nurturing residential environment, focused on emotional wellbeing, stability, and positive development.
Young people placed here may have experienced family breakdown, placement breakdown, or past trauma including abuse, and require consistent, relationship-based care to help them rebuild trust and stability.
The home offers a physically nurturing environment with strong emphasis on health, wellbeing, and emotional and behavioural support, alongside social learning opportunities to help young people develop life skills and independence.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced Team Leader to support the management team in the day-to-day running of this small residential service.
You will play a key role in leading shifts, supporting staff practice, and ensuring young people receive consistent, high-quality care tailored to their individual needs.
This is a hands-on leadership position where you will be actively involved in both care delivery and operational support.
Key Responsibilities
Lead shifts and provide clear direction to the residential care team
Support the delivery of individual care plans and placement objectives
Promote a safe, stable, and nurturing environment for young people
Ensure safeguarding and child protection procedures are consistently followed
Supervise, support, and mentor staff on shift
Maintain accurate records, logs, and incident reporting
Support young people with emotional regulation and behavioural needs
Encourage engagement in social learning and positive activities
Work collaboratively with external professionals and families
Contribute to the smooth running and consistency of the home
About You
NVQ Level 3 / Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
Experience within a children’s residential care setting
Previous experience in a senior support or team leader role (preferred)
Strong understanding of safeguarding and residential care standards
Confident in leading shifts and supporting staff practice
Calm, consistent, and resilient when managing challenging behaviour
Strong communication and organisational skills
Passionate about improving outcomes for vulnerable children and young people
