About the Role
We are looking for a skilled Fire Door Inspector to join a housing compliance team for a short-term assignment. This role focuses on ensuring fire doors across housing properties meet current safety standards, carrying out inspections, minor repairs, and reporting findings.
The role is ideal for someone with practical knowledge of building construction and fire safety regulations, who can work independently while liaising effectively with residents and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct bi-annual fire door inspections in housing properties in line with Fire Safety Regulations
Carry out minor repairs to fire doors or report further required work
Maintain accurate records of inspections and remedial works using the appropriate monitoring systems
Liaise with residents and other officers to schedule inspections and resolve any issues
Prepare monthly reports to management on inspection outcomes and ongoing compliance
Ensure compliance with health and safety, equality, diversity, and inclusion policies
Assist with data collection, surveys, and other compliance department projects as needed
Perform duties outside of normal working hours if required
Skills & Knowledge Required
Sound working knowledge of fire door compliance, building construction, components, materials, and trades
Ability to carry out repairs ensuring fire doors meet current requirements
Strong communication skills to converse with customers and provide accurate advice
Ability to work independently, make decisions, and meet tight deadlines
Understanding of health and safety legislation within the building industry
Strong time management skills and ability to organise own workload
Team player with good telephone and interpersonal skills
Other Requirements
Full driving licence and access to a vehicle for travel across the borough
