About the Service
We are recruiting on behalf of a 6-bed residential children’s home with on-site education provision based in Handsworth, Birmingham.
The service supports children and young people with a range of complex needs, offering a structured, stable environment that combines care and education to promote positive outcomes.
The focus is on creating consistency, encouraging engagement in learning, and supporting young people to develop emotionally, socially, and behaviourally within a safe and supportive setting.
This is a more complex service than a smaller home, requiring strong leadership, clear structure, and effective team management to maintain high standards across both care and education.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced Registered Manager to take full operational and regulatory responsibility for the home.
You will lead a larger staff team, oversee the integration of care and education, and ensure the service consistently delivers high-quality, compliant, and outcome-focused care.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you will be responsible for driving standards, shaping culture, and ensuring the home operates in line with Ofsted and Children’s Homes Regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the overall running of a 6-bed residential children’s home
Ensure the home delivers safe, consistent, and high-quality care
Oversee the integration of education within the residential setting
Lead, develop, and manage a larger staff team
Ensure full compliance with Ofsted regulations and statutory requirements
Oversee care planning and ensure individual needs are met effectively
Maintain strong safeguarding systems and a culture of accountability
Manage budgets, staffing, and operational performance
Build strong relationships with education staff, external professionals, and stakeholders
Drive continuous improvement and maintain high service standards
About You
Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
Proven experience as a Registered Manager within children’s residential care
Strong understanding of Ofsted regulations and safeguarding frameworks
Experience managing larger homes or education-linked services (desirable)
Confident leader with the ability to manage and develop teams
Strong organisational, communication, and decision-making skills
Resilient and able to manage a busy, high-responsibility environment
Committed to improving outcomes for children and young people
Benefits
Salary up to £47,000
Private healthcare plan
Contributory pension scheme
Ongoing training and development
Supportive senior leadership structure
Opportunity to lead a larger, education-linked service
The Opportunity
This is a strong opportunity to take full ownership of a larger, education-integrated residential service, offering both challenge and progression.
You’ll be leading a service where structure, leadership, and consistency are key—giving you the platform to make a real impact on outcomes while developing your career within a growing organisation.
