We’re looking for a talented Molecular Biology Scientist to join a cutting-edge team driving innovation in synthetic biology and biomanufacturing. This role offers the chance to work with next-generation sequencing technologies, including Sanger, NGS, and ideally Oxford Nanopore or similar platforms, while helping to build a high-throughput in-house sequencing capability from the ground up.
What You’ll Do:
Set up and run in-house sequencing workflows, focusing on multiplexed sequencing and high-throughput sample processing.
Develop and optimize protocols for library preparation, barcoding, and sample quality control.
Contribute to automation efforts for sample prep and sequencing processes.
Collaborate with teams across synthetic biology and computational research to design experiments and support data analysis.
Maintain SOPs, QC standards, and detailed lab records.
Mentor and support colleagues on sequencing workflows and best practices.
What We’re Looking For:
Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Genomics, or related field with 2+ years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with applicable training.
Hands-on experience with next-generation sequencing platforms (Oxford Nanopore experience a plus).
Solid molecular biology skills, including nucleic acid extraction, library prep, and troubleshooting.
Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with multiplex barcoding and high-throughput sequencing.
Exposure to workflow automation (liquid handlers, automated library prep).
Familiarity with sequencing data formats and basic bioinformatics tools.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
