Senior Support Worker
Location: Newton Abbot
My client is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Senior Support Worker to join their team at a residential setting. The role involves providing care and support to young people aged 8-18 with a variety of behavioural and emotional needs. Management Development Programme to progress from Support Worker to Registered Manager
Shift Pattern:
16-24 hour shifts (including sleep-in), on a one on two off or two on four off basis
Key Responsibilities:
Leading shifts and stepping in for the Registered Manager as needed
Supporting and mentoring Residential Care Workers to ensure they are up to date with all mandatory training
Promoting effective communication with the team and ensuring care plans are implemented correctly
Keeping accurate records to enable regular monitoring and evaluations
Actively participating in staff meetings to improve team dynamics and development
Providing day-to-day care and support to the young people in the service
Assisting young people with their educational goals and supporting their school or college attendance
Accompanying young people to and from school or college
Preparing meals and maintaining a clean, welcoming home environment
Organising and leading social activities for young people

Requirements:
A full UK driving licence is essential
A desire to work towards obtaining a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent qualification in the Children & Young People’s workforce
12 months of senior experience in a residential care setting is highly desirable; however, applications from individuals at the start of their journey are welcome
DBS checks and reference verification will be completed in line with government regulations and safer recruitment practices
