Role Overview:
We are currently seeking an experienced Occupational Health Advisor to join our client’s collaborative, dynamic, and multidisciplinary team based in Barrow-in-Furness.

This full-time position involves working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, on-site. The working hours are Monday to Thursday from 07:15 AM to 4:00 PM, and Fridays from 07:15 AM to 11:45 AM.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide expert, evidence-based case management services for referrals related to attendance, fitness for work, and other Occupational Health inquiries.
Prepare comprehensive, evidence-based reports with a professional standard of writing.
Offer expert advice on legislative requirements and best practices in Occupational Health.
Conduct fitness medicals and health surveillance, ensuring they meet best practice standards and adhere to company policies and protocols.
Evaluate medical results and surveillance outcomes, ensuring appropriate advice on fitness is communicated, escalating when clinically necessary.
Provide additional Occupational Health services, where competent, including vaccinations, travel health services, ergonomic advice, and health promotion for employees.
Offer clinical supervision and support to other team members, such as Occupational Health Technicians.
Maintain up-to-date registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), ensuring compliance with professional guidelines, clinical supervision, and continuous development.
Provide proficiency in the delivery of:
Spirometry
Audiometry
General Medicals
Drug and Alcohol screening
Case Management
Fitness for Role Assessments
Skills & Qualifications:
Registered Nurse (Part 1).
Postgraduate qualification in Occupational Health (Degree/Diploma).
Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail.
Strong communicator with the ability to engage with a range of stakeholders.
Strong time management skills and organizational ability.
Awareness of own competencies and the ability to escalate or seek support when necessary to ensure safe practice.
Proficiency in IT and familiarity with Occupational Health-related systems.
In-depth understanding of data protection and confidentiality principles in Occupational Health.
Case management experience and providing Occupational Health advice.
Experience in general medicals and health surveillance.
Ability to demonstrate a flexible and proactive approach to work.
Commitment to excellence in practice and proactive service delivery.
Strong negotiation, motivational, and feedback delivery skills.
Skilled and confident in creating and delivering presentations to both clients and employees.
Education & Certification:
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or Occupational Health.
NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) registration.
