Shift Engineering Technician – Day Shift Full-time

Location: Plymouth
Hours: 3 days on / 3 days off | 11am – 11pm
Salary: Competitive + 32% shift premium
Contract: Full-time, Permanent

We’re working with a world-class manufacturer of life-saving medical devices, and they’re growing their engineering team. They’re on the lookout for a Shift Engineering Technician (ideally with an electrical bias) to join their day shift operation at a technically advanced site in the Southwest.

This is a brilliant opportunity to work on highly automated, precision production equipment and play a key role in optimising performance, mentoring technicians, and driving improvement.

What you’ll be doing

• Supporting Production Technicians in resolving technical machine issues
• Acting as an equipment expert and guiding others on best practices
• Troubleshooting, fault-finding, and leading refurb/repair activities
• Working with HMI screens, MES systems, and diagnostics tools
• Leading small process improvement projects and initiatives
• Collaborating with Process and Project teams on new equipment installs
• Championing continuous improvement, cost reduction, and performance optimisation
• Encouraging technical growth in less experienced team members

What we’re looking for

• Level 3 or higher qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• Solid experience in a high-volume manufacturing or assembly environment
• Familiarity with systems including hydraulics, pneumatics, robotics, and servo drives
• Confident in using SAP, HMIs, and IT systems for maintenance logging and analysis
• A proactive problem-solver with strong technical fault-finding skills
• Excellent communication skills and a mentoring mindset
