Senior Support Worker
Location: Plymouth
A wonderful opportunity has arisen for a Senior Support Worker to join a well-respected organisation in providing residential care and support for children and young people with emotional and behavioural needs. The young people in this service range from ages 8 to 18, and the dedicated team is committed to improving their lives and helping them reach their full potential.

Competitive hourly pay rate of £13.40 – £14.22, depending on experience/qualifications

Shift Pattern:
16-24 hours (including sleep-in), with flexible patterns of one on, two off or two on, four off
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
As a Senior Support Worker, you will be responsible for:
Leading shifts and deputising for the Registered Manager as needed
Supporting and guiding a team of Residential Care Workers, ensuring they are up-to-date with all mandatory training and individual development
Communicating with the team to ensure the smooth implementation of individual care plans
Maintaining accurate written records, logs, and files to enable regular monitoring and evaluation
Contributing to team meetings, promoting open communication, and encouraging staff development
Providing personal care and support to the young people
Encouraging and supporting young people in their educational engagement, including helping them re-enter education or continue in their current studies
Assisting in transporting young people to and from school or college
Preparing meals and ensuring the home environment is well-kept, including cleaning and laundry
Organising and leading social activities for the young people

What We’re Looking For:
A full UK driving licence is essential
A willingness to work towards a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or an equivalent qualification in the Children & Young People’s workforce
At least 12 months of senior experience working in a residential care setting is highly desirable, though we welcome applications from those new to this type of role
A DBS check and reference checks will be carried out in line with government regulations and safer recruitment practices
