About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Director of Nursing to lead Women’s and Children’s Health Services in a 300-bed acute care hospital. This leadership role provides strategic and operational oversight for labor & delivery, postpartum, newborn nursery, pediatrics, and Level I NICU. You’ll be responsible for guiding multidisciplinary teams, managing departmental resources, and ensuring patient-centered, high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement departmental goals, plans, and standards that meet clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements.
Operational Oversight: Manage all aspects of Women’s & Children’s Services, ensuring optimal patient outcomes, satisfaction, and quality performance.
Staff Development: Oversee hiring, orientation, evaluations, corrective actions, and continuing education. Foster a culture of engagement and professional growth.
Financial Management: Prepare, monitor, and evaluate departmental budgets; support internal and external audits.
Quality & Safety: Integrate evidence-based nursing practices into protocols; ensure compliance with healthcare regulations (HIPAA, Joint Commission, etc.).
Collaboration: Partner with physicians, advanced practice providers, and hospital leadership to improve care coordination and patient experience.
Other Duties: Mentor and develop nursing staff, maintain ongoing education, and ensure adherence to clinical and patient safety standards.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
Current WV RN license (or eligible)
5–7 years of progressive leadership experience in Women’s and Children’s Health
Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and collaborate effectively with surgeons and anesthesia providers
Experience with budgeting, financial management, and resource allocation in acute care
Strong analytical skills to interpret data and implement performance-improvement initiatives
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP required (or obtained within required timeframe)

About the Facility
This 300-bed hospital treats nearly 13,000 patients annually, with over 50,000 emergency visits. Specialty programs include cardiac CTA, digital mammography, trauma services, and a full range of surgical care. The Women’s & Children’s Department delivers evidence-based care in alignment with ACOG, AWHONN, and AAP standards, supported by a multidisciplinary provider team and approximately 40 FTEs.
